Eventually I crossed back over the river and came along the other side. Then a sign for a view point caught my eye. It said, “Strath View Point”. A strath is a wide open valley. Perhaps I’d be able to see the island from up high. So I climbed the 1 kilometer bush-hogged path that switchbacked up the steep hill. The dogs of the house I passed near the bottom weren’t happy I was there. The midges were glad of some potential fresh meat, so I had to keep swatting them out of the way.
